Tip 1: Speed Is Not Always Your Friend
Sometimes speed may be required to climb a hill or conquer a hazard. However, if you think the obstacle needs even 15 kph, you’re probably not going to make it. And you will more or less damage something or get stuck.
Tip 2: Bring Essential Items
If you plan to travel the road less paved, bring along some things that’ll help you out of a minor jam-bringing items like a hand winch, tow straps, high-life jack, shovel, some wood blocks, and a first aid kit. If you are going farther than you can walk, bring enough stuff like water, food, blankets and a flashlight to survive until somebody finds you.
Tip 3: Bring Someone Along
Bringing someone for the ride can not only be fun, but it can also be helpful if you happen to end up getting stuck or need a pair of extra eyes. Having someone with you can be a blessing.
Tip 4: Tell Someone Where You’re Going
Telling somebody where you are going and when you expect to be back is essential. At least they’ll know when and where to start searching.
Tip 5: Walk It First
Suppose you cannot make it through mud, sand or other obstacles on foot. It’s doubtful your vehicle can make it. It’s critical to check out a water-cover route: unless you’ve seen another vehicle go through it, you can’t be sure it doesn’t hide a huge hole.
